Initially, Stern was sent from Vienna to investigate the reasons behind the former Prague Regent Ildephonsus Steinhebel's treason but his duties kept piling up since his superiors were pleased with his results. Stern searched Prague and secured Steinhebel's belongings along with rooting the remains of his influence and experiments in the city.
